Our Wines

Planted in the early nineties, Marsden Estate’s 10 acres of vineyards comprise Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Muscat, Merlot, Pinotage, Chambourcin, Syrah and Tempranillo.

Approximately 20 other smaller vineyards and growers in the area have their wine made here by Rod MacIvor - Rod and Cindy MacIvor are the owner/operators of Marsden Estate which they first established back in 1993 when they planted their first vines. The restaurant opened soon after in 1996, showcasing their first harvest. Rod is the wine maker and his wife Cindy runs the restaurant.

Many are award winners, reflecting the philosophy that the winemaking is carried out in the vineyard and that the process should encourage the natural flavours of the grape. The annual production is around 5,000 cases, 90% of wine sales are through our cellar door and restaurant.

All the grapes for the following wines are grown on site with the exception of the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and the Viognier, which comes from a vineyard in Mangawhai, about 90mins south from us. The Northland soils and climate, coupled with the extended growing season produce wines with distinct regional flavours.
